A few years back, Alexandrea gave Brandon a small LEGO lucky cat — a maneki-neko, the classic “beckoning cat” figure you’ve probably seen waving from a shop window. It sat on Brandon’s desk as a conversation piece more than anything. But as the business grew that year, it became something of a running joke turned genuine good-luck charm.
The maneki-neko has been a symbol of good fortune for centuries, going back to Edo period Japan, where shop owners displayed the figure to welcome prosperity and good customers through the door. It’s one of the most recognized good-luck symbols in the world, precisely because what it represents is simple and universal: welcome, protection, and good things coming your way.
That’s the idea Brandon wanted every customer to walk away with. Not luck in some mystical sense, but the feeling of relief that comes from a job done right, a technician who was honest with you, and a system that’s actually taken care of. When it came time to rename the company, Fortune Comfort was the only name that fit. The cat on our trucks and uniforms isn’t a mascot for the sake of having one, it’s a reminder of what we’re actually trying to give people: good fortune, delivered by a technician who showed up, explained everything, and left your home better than they found it.
The team behind the trucks
Fortune Comfort is led by a small team that believes good HVAC service shouldn’t feel complicated or transactional. Brandon, our President and lead technician, has spent his career hands-on in the field — he’s the standard every technician on our team is trained to meet, from diagnostic accuracy to how we talk to homeowners in their kitchen. Behind the scenes, our operations team keeps things running so that when we say we’ll be there, we’re there; we’re on time, prepared, and ready to walk you through whatever we find.
We’re proud that most of our new customers come from a neighbor, a friend, or a past customer who told them to call us. That’s not something you can buy with advertising. It’s earned one well-explained job at a time.
Why it matters to us
HVAC touches the most basic parts of daily life — being warm in January, being cool in July, knowing the air your family breathes is clean. We take that seriously. When you call Fortune Comfort, you’re not just scheduling a service call. You’re inviting someone into your home who’s going to take the time to get it right, and make sure you understand it too.
That’s the fortune we’re after — the kind that comes from actually knowing what’s going on with your own home.
